I had a great time last Thursday night doing a hypnosis demo at the weekly Norwich Kitty Networking Group at the Murderers where I have just joined as a full member.
After we completed the groups networking business our host Paul Rudd then handed the room over to me where I gave a short chat on how I have been fascinated with hypnosis since seeing a stage hypnosis show when I was young. I then told everyone how this eventually led to me doing a course on street hypnosis and then after that a hypnotherapy course and how I am now running True Focus Hypnotherapy where I help people with anxiety, weight loss, smoking cessation and phobias.
I then started with a group activity called magnetic fingers where I led everyone through an imagination exercise that caused their fingers to come together and stick. About half a dozen people in the room had really good imaginations and found that their fingers were actually stuck together like they were glued. I then asked if one of them would volunteer to come up and help me with my demonstration.
Rob Turner of ReynardCity kindly volunteered to help me do a one on one demonstration. Although making someone forget their name and how to drink beer is not strictly hypnotherapy it does show how amazingly powerful and complex the human mind is. I told Rob he could not tell the truth at all and it was very amusing for all the members to watch as Rob answered questions I put to him with rather abstract and weird answers. I finished the demonstration by ‘waking’ Rob back up and he couldn’t remember what had just happened!
